An investigation of socialization levels of secondary school students in terms of predetermined variables in sports

The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the socialization levels of middle school students according to their age, gender, grade level, their parents' educational level, their undergraduate year, the sports branches they prefer and how often they do sports. It is thought that it will contribute to the researches about the importance of socialization in sports in the field of physical education and sports and will help to determine the socialization differences between the students who do sports and not. Our work consists of totally 565 people who go 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade in the public school and sport as a licenced. The research sample consists of 565 people; 165 of the middle school students who participated in the study were 11 years of age (%29.2), 122 of them were 12 years of age (%21.6), 117 of them were 13 years of age (%20.7) and 161 of them were 14 years of age (%28.5). 225 of the students were female (39.8%) and 340 (60.2%) were male. Sports and socialization scale were used as a data collection tool. In the first part of the survey conducted by Sahan in 2007, there are 35 questions about the personal characteristics of the students (age, gender, branch, etc.) and in the second part 35 questions about sports and socialization. Five-point Likert-type scale was used in the survey questions. The survey was planned to be answered in a maximum of 40 minutes. The data obtained from the study were analyzed using the SPSS statistical program. It is determined that there is no significant difference in terms of age, gender, how long it has been certified athletes, what sport they do; however, there is a difference in terms of the variables of their grade level, parental education status, and how often they do sports.
