Examnation of secondary school students' perceptions on distance education, their attitudes towards computers and their perceptions of ICT self-efficacy

The purpose of this research is to examine the perceptions of secondary school students studying at public schools regarding distance education according to various variables by making use of their experiences during the pandemic period and to determine whether there is a significant relationship between students' perceptions of distance education and their attitudes towards computers and their perceptions of ICT self-efficacy. The research used a comparative relational model and survey technique, which are quantitative methods. The study group of the research consists of 614 secondary school students studying in state schools affiliated with the Bolu Directorate of National Education. The Distance Education Perceptions Scale, Attitude towards Computers Scale and ICT Self-Efficacy Perception Scale were used. The research showed that students' perceptions of distance education were "moderate". The students' perceptions of distance education differed significantly according to the grade level variable. It was observed that the students' attitudes towards computers were at the "moderate" level, and the attitudes toward computers differed significantly according to the gender variable. It was observed that students' ICT self-efficacy perceptions were at a "moderate" level and differed significantly according to gender and grade level variables. in addition, a weak positive correlation was found between students' perceptions of distance education and their ICT self-efficacy perceptions. According to the applied regression analysis, it was determined that secondary school students' perception of ICT selfefficacy, class level and device ownership were predictors of their perceptions of distance education.
