Abstract (EN)
In this study, wind speed data were investigated in order to determine wind energy potential in Osmaniye region. Weibull distribution function was used to determine the average wind energy potential of this region. The mean wind speed and mean wind power values of the selected region were estimated by calculating the coefficients of this distribution function. This estimated value was compared with the actual average wind speed and average wind power values calculated using the wind speed data obtained from the meteorology between 2013 and 2018. The coefficients of the Weibull distribution function for the selected region were calculated using six different methods. In this study, the methods used to determine the coefficients of the Weibull distribution function; Graphical Method, Moment Method, Emprical Method, Maximum Likelihood Method, Energy Trend Method and Energy Pattern Method, performans. The performances of these methods used for this region were examined using three different statistical error analysis tests. Error analysis test results were evaluated in general and the best performing method was determined in this region. According to the results, Moment Method, Emprical Method, Energy Pattern Method methods showed the best performance in this region. This study will be a very important preliminary study in determining the wind energy potential of this region. Key Words: Wind energy, Weibull distribution function, Methods, statistical error analysis test
