Region's social, administrative and economic construction according to the Ottoman cebeli Labanon annuals (1887-1892)

In terms of physical geography, Mount Lebanon has been a sheltered region for heterodox sect groups. Among these sect groups, Christian Maronites and Druze, a branch of Shiism, had a say in the region. Conflicts took place between 1840-1860. Because of these conflicts, the Ot-tomans took care to establish an appropriate management for the local conditions without damaging the local fabric. In this context, in the region, Druze in the south and Marunî district in the north, the application of Double District Governorate was started but sectarian conflicts continued as the desired result could not be achieved. In 1861, the Cebel-i Lebanon Regulation was published by the international commis-sion, which convened due to the increasing conflicts, and the governorship of Cebel-i Lebanon was established in Cebel-i Lebanon. Thus, conflicts in the region came to an end with the fact that different segments of society had a say. In this study, first of all, the change and development of Cebel-i Lebanon and its region in the historical process up to the governance order was scrutinized. Af-terwards, the administrative structure, demographic structure, social and economic structure of the governance were analyzed by looking at the Mount Lebanon Annuals published twenty-six years after the establishment of the governance order. In this way, a detailed description of Mount Lebanon governorship (H.1304/M.1887 - H.1309/ M.1892) has been tried to be presented.
