Abstract (EN)

Poetry has long been the quintessential genre in Arabic literature since the Jāhiliyya period. Al-Mutanabbi, a luminary of the Abbasid era—the golden age of classical Arabic poetry—holds a distinguished place in Arabic literary history. Renowned for his poetic prowess, Al-Mutanabbi is regarded as one of the preeminent poets of his time. His oeuvre, which continues to inspire contemporary audiences, is invaluable for its reflection of the intricacies and hallmarks of classical Arabic poetry, characterized by meticulous word choice, stylistic diversity, and a rich cultural tapestry. The limited scope of studies conducted in our country on al-Mutanabbi, a paragon of the rich linguistic tradition of Arabic poetry, underscores the impetus for this analysis of his work. This study focuses on the language and style of al-Mutanabbi's poetry, specifically within the thematic contexts of praise and satire. The objective is to elucidate al Mutanabbi's stature in Arabic literature by examining the literary dimensions of his work, particularly the linguistic, stylistic, and qasida elements of his poems centered on themes of encomium and invective. Furthermore, this study aims to highlight the poetic architecture of classical Arabic poetry during the Abbasid period and to facilitate future research in this domain.
