Arabic oral culture of the Village of Oyuklu

Language is a living medium that enables communication among people. Where there are people and a social environment, there is language. Due to different reasons, different dialects occur in the structures of languages. There are dialects of many languages in the world. Arabic is also one of the languages with dialects. Arabic is a language spoken outside of the Arab people. Due to the contact of different cultures with Arabs, especially the influence of religion, Arabic has found a place in different geographies and among different nations. One of these areas is the geography of Anatolia. Among the areas where Arabic is spoken in Turkey are the cities of Hatay, Siirt, Şanlıurfa, Muş and Mardin. However, it is seen that these dialects have moved away from standard Arabic in terms of syntax, phonetics and morphology. While the Mardin, Siirt, Muş-Varto and Diyarbakır regions have similarities as the Mesopotamian dialect called Ḳǝltu, Şanlıurfa and Hatay differ from Arabic dialects. Based on the observations we made in the fieldwork and the information we included in our study, it is seen that the Oyuklu Village Arabic dialect, which is included in the Diyarbakir group, is a Ḳəltu dialect and, like other dialects, it has become different from standard Arabic. This dialect has its own rich cultural accumulation. In our study, we also discussed these cultural diversity. Since there is no written source, we used methods and techniques such as participatory observation, interviews, audio and video recording to reflect the current culture.
