Abstract (EN)

In this study titled "The Development of Multi-Party Order in Uzbekistan (1989 - 2023)", which is considered as a Master's Thesis, the political parties established in Uzbekistan especially after independence and the problems they face are examined. After independence, the central government in Uzbekistan put political formations under intense pressure, on the one hand, in order to prevent the influence of radical Islamist movements that developed throughout the region as a major threat, and on the other hand, in order to maintain its own political power. This has led to increased criticism that the central government of Uzbekistan is an authoritarian regime. It is seen that democratic criteria have begun to be established in Uzbekistan with the reform operation carried out during the period of Shavkat Mirziyayev, who was elected president in 2016. In this context, it is seen that there have been important developments in the transition to a multi-party system and that political parties in the country continue their activities more easily. Therefore, today, Uzbekistan has gotten rid of the image of an authoritarian regime and has become a country that can be taken as a model in terms of applying democratic criteria.
