Abstract (EN)
The main goal of this study is to determine the expectations of mathematics and geometry education, views of the students about mathematics and geometry education which they get in private courses and, views of the teachers who teach in private intuitions related with the mathematics and geometry education which have been carried out in these courses. In this sense, the second goal of this study is to analyze the thought of parents? related to why they enroll their children to these private courses. This study was conducted with the participation of 652 students who maintained their education in private courses, 150 parents and 2 Mathematics teachers. We used the ?case study model? which is one of the qualitative methods, and the data of this study was analyzed with descriptive analysis method. The findings of this research can be summarized as follows:The expectations of the students can be classified as solving of many various problem samples and make familiar the students to practical ways of the solving of those problems, gaining experience in multiple choices examinations, and one to one additional studies, arranging additional classes whenever they need and providing contributions of mathematics and geometry classes which are carried out at school. The main finding related with the fundamental anxiety of the students and the parents is not only to place their most desired departments of the universities but in the mean time preparing him/herself of the university entering exam once again, the difficulties of the exam and inadequate preparations for this exam. Finally, it has been figured out that the teachers, who work in private courses, come to class well-prepared, use the ask-answer technique and the problem solving method while explaining the mathematical concepts, and contribute the improvements of students in mathematics and geometry and, make effort to the preparations of trial examinations. Also the teachers see the trial examinations as a part of learning in education, especially learning in mathematics education.Key words: Private courses, Mathematics Education, Geometry Education.
