Abstract (EN)

Text linguistics is considered to be one of the sub-fields of linguistics. The scope of this field is to define the text, determine the criteria for textuality and examine the texts in various dimensions. Cohesion and coherence in the classification of textuality criteria are directly related to the text. While cohesion is related to the surface structure of the text coherence is related to the deep structure of the text and the semantic dimension of the text. The most essential tool used in mother tongue education is the text. Texts are often used to develop students' basic language skills in a more correct and effective way. It is expected that the texts to be used in language acquisition comply with the textuality criteria. The compatibility of these texts in terms of cohesion and coherence will facilitate students' language learning. Previous studies emphasize that texts prepared in accordance with textuality criteria and the activities based on these texts will positively reflect on the students' language skill development processes. The main purpose of this study is to examine the narrative texts created by specially gifted students studying at the Science and Art Center in terms of cohesion and coherence. For this purpose, the cohesion and consistency aspects of the narrative texts written by a total of 60 students chosen from the Individual Talent Awareness Program (ITAP) and the Special Talent Awareness Program (SPTA) were revealed. In this study, document screening (document review) was used as a qualitative data collection method and content analysis was used for the analysis of data. According to the research results, it was observed that the elements that provide narrative cohesion in the writings of gifted students were used sufficiently, while the elements of coherence were used less. Experimental studies can be conducted to ensure that gifted students create more coherent texts. Key Words: Chosion, Consistency, Text, Textlinguistics, Special Talented, Students
