Abstract (EN)
Electromagnetic interference (EMI) is the electromagnetic disturbance that affects the performance of a device, transmission channel, electronic circuits or any system. The devices must be insulated from the external environment and effects by using appropriate packaging method, in order to prevent the devices from being affected by each other and environmental conditions or a circuit element from other elements in the circuit. In this study, the studies and the methods developed about the reduction of electromagnetic interference in microwave modules are examined. The effects of the pin geometries on electrical performance are investigated designing perfect magnetic conductor (PMC) based enclosure models consist of pinned covers with different pin geometries. The model has the square cross-sectioned pin geometry and whose physical parameters are calculated according to the theoretical foundations is selected as reference. While all the parameters of the reference model, which is designed for 10 GHz - 20 GHz frequency band are fixed, different PMC enclosures are designed by changing only the pin geometries and electromagnetic analyzes are done. The effects of different pin geometries formed by straight wires, different number of helices and pyramid shaped structures on frequency band and electromagnetic isolation are investigated by comparing the frequency dependent transmission characteristics in X, Ku, and K bands. Novel pin geometries that miniaturize the PMC enclosures, lighter, require less material and easy to manufacture are proposed. Prototype production and electrical tests were performed for one of the proposed models and the simulation results are verified.
