Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of different nitrogen rates on oil yield and fatty acids composition of different cotton varieties in 2021 at research farm of the Çukurova University, Cotton Research and Application Center. Trial was arranged in a split-plot system in a randomized complete block with three replicates and nitrogen treatments were maintained as main plots, while the varieties were in the sub-plots. In cotton varieties ttreated with different nitrogen rates oil yield, oil content and fatty acid composition (myristic acid, palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid, stearic acid, oleic acid, linoleic acid, total saturated fatty acid, total monosaturated fatty acid, total polyunsaturated fatty acid, alfa-linolenik acid, arachidic acid behenic acid, lignoseric acid) were investigated. There were no found significant varieties effect on teh studied caharacteristics except myristic acid. Effects of nitrogen application rates and interaction by variety x nitrogen application rates were not significant effect on any characteristics. Although there were no statistically sigificannt differences were found due to the effects of nitogen application rates, increases were detected by the higher N rates in oil content, oil yield, oleic acid content, total mono-unsturated fatty acid content and total poly-unsaturated fatty acids content whereas palmitic acid, palmitoleic acid content, stearic acid content, arachidic acid content and total saturated fatty acidscontent increased by increasing N rates.
