Government support and voluntary relationship in the pandemic process: About "Vefa Social Support Groups" an assessment

The aim of this study is to evaluate how well the Vefa Social Support Groups, which were created by the state to combat the Pandemic, are a good strategy both in terms of social and volunteering relations, with the news and interviews. In the study, an evaluation was made through in-depth interviews and content analysis methods within the specified date ranges for the government support that emerged in the fight against the pandemic, the volunteering activities developed in connection with this support, and the Vefa Social Support Groups, which is one of the alternative strategies. In this context, the policies that were transformed with the pandemic process were evaluated together with the content in the mass media, and a result was obtained through these policies. As a result of the study, it was observed in the news texts and interviews with VSDG employees that the Vefa Social Support Group, which is a project implemented to prevent disadvantaged groups from becoming victims, is a beneficial project both in terms of society and the role of state support on voluntary work. Although it is not considered as a non-governmental organization, the VSDG application also provided services to the society without any profit. The data obtained from the news contents also showed that the VSDG application was applied successfully. Of course, since it is a new formation, it has shortcomings, but it has become an important role model for applications to be developed against any disaster in the future.
