Abstract (EN)
The aim of research is to examine the connection between university students' social media attitudes and digital literacy levels. In addition to the main purpose of the research, another purpose is to evaluate social media attitudes and digital literacy levels according to various variables (gender, class level, department, how long they use social media, frequency of daily use of social media). It has been originated in proportion to the quantitative research model and relational survey aiming to bring to light current situation has been preferred. The accessible universe of the research be composed of students (N=1624) studying in different departments of Istanbul Gelişim University School of Physical Education and Sports. The sample of the study, on the other hand, consists of volunteer participants (n=391) selected by the simple random method. Personal information form, social media attitude scale and digital literacy scale were applied to the participants as data collection tools. The collected data were relocated to the SPSS 24 program and independent t-test was performed with a parametric approach to the data obtained to fit the normal distribution, and One-way ANOVA tests were performed for more than one categorical variable. Correlation Analysis was performed to determine the relationships between variables. As a result, it has been determined that gender, department and daily use of social media are not a determining variable in the level of social media attitude and digital literacy. It was determined that the class level of the students affected the social isolation and social competence level, and the social isolation of the 4th grade students and the social competence of the 3rd grade students were found to be better. It has been determined that the class variable does not play a decisive role on digital literacy but has similar features. It is understood that the students of the recreation department are better in the dimension of relationship with the teacher. As social media usage history increases, it is seen that contextual use and digital identity management increase. It has been determined that there is a negligible relationship between the level of social media attitude and the level of digital literacy.
