Abstract (EN)

Claw pole synchronous machine has been used as a generator in internal combustion engine vehicles for a long time due to its some advantages as low cost, robust rotor structure and ease of fabrication. In addition, due to the same reasons, there are implementations of this machine type in small power wind turbines in the literature. In this thesis, firstly, the 3D finite element model of the permanent magnet claw pole synchronous generator was provided in Ansys Maxwell environment. And then, by using this model, the terminal voltages harmonic distortion levels and effective values, terminal currents harmonic distortion levels, losses and torque ripple of the generator under linear and non-linear loads were comparatively analysed. Finally, several low pass LC passive filters were designed to improve the terminal voltage harmonic distortion levels, terminal voltage effective values, losses and torque ripple of the modelled generator under non-linear loading. The performance of the generator with/without the filter were evaluated comparatively.
