Importance of Supply Chain Management for Chain Stores in the Retailing Sector: An Application

Nowadays, retailing is one of the sectors which is rapidly developing and changing. Together with this developing trend, In recent years retail firms have tended to form large chains with acts of merging and purchasing. In order for chain stores to function in an effective way and to be seen as a serious competitor on the market, supply chains must be managed well. Chain stores work with too many suppliers. Therefore, chain stores should coordinate effectively with all supply chains in order to manage that large value chain. Chain stores should form a structure which will make integration with suppliers and will encourage an effective information share between own suppliers. If chains can?t put this structure into prcatice, they may risk falling behind their competitors. It is possible by obtaining an effective supply chain management to create a structure which is productive and low cost, with good information flow, effective stock management, customer satisfaction and profitability in supply chain activity of chain stores. The purpose of this study is to show importance and place of supply chain management in chain stores. In extent of thesis study, it is showed with theoretical knowledge that is given about the topic and an application that is made.
