Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of using performance-based activities on the 8th grade science course pressure subject on students' success and students' attitudes towards the science course. The experimental research method, one of the methods of the quantitative research approach, was used in the study. The pretest-posttest unequal control group model of the quasi-experimental designs model of the experimental research method was used. Our research was applied to 45 students selected from the 8th grade studying at a secondary school in a large province of the Central Anatolia region affiliated with the Ministry of National Education. Pressure Academic Achievement Test (ABT) and attitude scale were used as data collection tools in our research. ABT consists of 44 questions. The questions in ABT are original questions created by taking into account the achievements in the 8th grade pressure subject in the Ministry of Education annual plan. The attitude scale is a test that measures attitudes towards the Science course, with proven validity and reliability. To measure students' attitudes towards the Science course, Geban et al. The "Attitude Towards Science Scale" prepared by him was used (Geban et al., 1994). The data were analyzed statistically. The study concluded that the use of performance-based activities in the Science course is effective in learning compared to traditional methods. In this study, which was conducted using performance-based activities, it was determined that students learned the subject better and, according to the results of the academic achievement test, students' academic success and attitudes towards the Science course increased.
