The effect of plyometric training on goal-keepers in the preparation period

Abstract (EN)

Football is a popular sport that is hosted in many cultures. Watching is easy, difficult to play. It is very important to have the ability and some motoric, physiological characteristics and to develop these properties. It can be said that at the positions in football, the most different and hardest ones are goalkeepers. A good goalkeeper must be talented physically, physiologically, psychologically and technically. In order to become a goalkeeper, all characteristics must continue to develop in the same direction from the young age. Therefore, in this study, the pliometric training that provided the development of these features was applied to goalkeeper groups U21, U19 and U17. Before and after the preparation period, vertical-horizontal jump, sitting length, 30 m speed test and skin fold thickness were measured. T test was used to determine differences between performance values according to preparation period. Mann Whitney U test was used to identify which groups had significant differences. As a result, it was determined that all goalkeeper groups showed improvement after the preparation period. Thus, it can be said that selected training methods are suitable for the development of the goalkeepers.
