Abstract (EN)
In this study, p(n-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) polymers were produced and temperature-dependent turbidity tests of their aqueous solutions were carried out. The subcritical dissolution temperature values of these solutions were examined for the first time in this study. It is thought that the materials produced will be used to prevent overheating in home glass systems during the day. The project was supported by the Royal Academy of Engineering within the scope of the cooperation of Newton Katip-Çelebi funds, and application-based studies were included in the UK against innovative material studies. The project also involved two different companies producing polymers and glass. This study aimed to increase energy efficiency by making a certain change in the glass systems of houses. Since it is known that the hydrophilic comonomer reduces the phase change temperature in thermotropic structures, the evaluation of these copolymers, which have not been studied before, was emphasized. In this study, poly(n-isopropylacrylamide-co-2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) polymer was polymerized in an organic solvent using AIBN initiator. Then, after the produced polymer was purified, its aqueous solution was prepared and performance tests were evaluated. In the second part of the study, melamine-boric acid-formaldehyde shelled microencapsulated n-octadecane microcapsules with fire retardant properties, which are the subject of another project within the scope of TUBITAK 1001 program, were synthesized and defined.
