Kitsch phenomen in postmodern process

ABSTRACTKitsch is driven from German word `Werkitschen?. Kitsch is explainedby the concepts of degradation,vulgarization, making an object oftrade,disobedience to the aesthetic values. Kitsch is firstly observed togetherwith the industrial revolution and the romantism.With the industrial revolution the kitsch forms find the possibility ofproduction and distribution. The middle class getting enriched through theindustrial revolution can demand different products of art (literature, paintingand music) in its own prefreance. By Modernists Kitsch is interpreted asproduced consciously in the direction of a culturel industry and aimingprofit. Modernism aimed a free art, an artificial and global aesthetics apartfrom the life and based on creation and uniqueness. It criticised every attemptnot in accord of this definition and defined as kitsch. Kulka defines kitsch as adifferent aesthetic category outside of art and proposes a definite formulafor a definition of kitsch.The new postmodern evolution starting in nineteen fifties and sixtiesattacked all the values of modernism.Hereby all the forms rejected bymodernism and specifically the popular culture found a broad acceptance.The first point of contradiction was the attempt of inclusion of the commercialculture into the art by popart. The main goal of postmodernism was toestablish an indifference between high culture and the others. This was astructure fundamentally depending on eclectisism. Postmodernism hasbroadened the boundries of the art to include the kitsch also. They legalisedall sorts of overtaking,resamblance and reproduction to destroy thecreativeness,uniqueness of modernism. They maintaned also a close tiewillingly with capitalistic culture and cunsumption. The postmodern artistscombined frely all the former forms using them loosely together. There wasthen a permission for everything,for kitsch also.Kitsch was used sometimes in a conceptual structure,sometimes indifferent presentations and also sometimes through traditional paintings.Odd Nerdrum, Jeff Koons, Komar and Melamid present examples in that way.Kitsch is introduced into the art as an antimodernistic form.vii
