Comparison of isokinetic muscle strengths of professional football players according to their playing positions

Abstract (EN)

Method: 41 elite football players (Forwards, n=10; midfielders, n=14; defenders, n=17) aged between 18-35 years enrolled for this study. In this study, the lengths of the participants were measured with SECA stadiometer and body weight measurements were measured with TANITA UM-073 (Japan) bioelectrical impedance analyzer with a sensitivity of 0,5 kg. Isokinetic strentgth wastested at 60o/s and 300o/s with IsoForce testing device (Germany). Two-way ANOVA was used for the obtained data. Results: Dominant leg flexion peak torque at 60o/s did not differ significantly between Akhisarspor and Manisaspor teams (F=0,533; p=0,470). Dominant leg peak torque at 60o/s differ significantly between playing positions (F=3,301; p=0,049) with midfielders (%-15,58) and forwards (%-11,10) were lowerth another playing positions. Additionally, Akhisarspor midfielders dominant leg flexion peak torque at 60o/s were ~%10 lower than Manisaspo rmidfielders and interaction between playing positions and teams were not statistically significant (F=0,174; p=0,841). Moreover, dominant and non-dominant leg flexion peak torque at 60o/sn and 300o/sn did not differ between Akhisarspor and Manisaspor teams (p>0,05). Conclusion: Our test findings suggest that only dominant leg peak torque at 60o/s differ significantly with Spor Toto Super Leagueand TFF 1st League football players. This result showed that TFF 1st League and Spor Toto Super League football Players isokinetic strengths were similiar. Keywords:Isoforce, Football, Isokinetic, Strenght, Position
