Abstract (EN)

Dental materials are an academic discipline that pertains to the study of materials employed in dentistry, encompassing their physical, chemical, and mechanical properties as well as their manipulation. These properties are closely tied to dental practitioners' appropriate selection and utilization of these materials. The field of dental materials facilitates the comprehension of the properties and characteristics of these substances, the appropriate selection for utilization in patients, and the optimal methods for their application. This research aimed to produce and characterize polymer matrix composites PMC for prosthesis. A complete denture polymer matrix was synthesized through nanoparticles added to poly (methyl methacrylate) PMMA. The current study aims to investigate the effect of particle size (nano and micro size) of reinforcement material for composite samples consisting of PMMA with different percentages such as 1, 2, 3, and 4% on the mechanical properties of samples in dental applications. The mechanical properties were investigated by fracture toughness, impact test, and microhardness test for samples prepared by PMMA with different nano and microparticle sizes. The obtained results demonstrate that the hardness increased with increasing percentages for both particle sizes, micro and nano, while the impact strength and fracture toughness were reduced.
