Abstract (EN)

Psoriaisis, onychomycosis, both or another disease can be the reason for nail changes in psoriasis cases. Howevere, the research results related to onychomycosis prevalance in cases with and without psoriasis are contradictory. In this study, the presence of foot dermatomycosis in control group and psoriasis cases is invastegated. Foot dermatomycosis was identified in 8 (%13.3) out of 60 in the control group and in 6 (%10) out of 60 in the group with psoriasis. In 5 of the psoriaisis patiens onychomycosis was identified. Although clinical shape in two of it was TDO and in another two was DLSO, in one of them the nail had a healty look. In one case interdigital tinea pedis was found but the factor could not be isolated. In 3 cases Trichophyton interdigitale, in one case Trichophyton rubrum as onychomycosis factor were isolated. In one case no factor was detected. In the control group interdigital tinea pedis was detected in 3 cases and in all of them the factor was T.rubrum. Onychomycosis was identifical in 5 patients all of which were DLSO. In 4 cases the factor could not be detected and in one the factor was T.rubrum . In conclusion, between cases with psoriaisis and healthy control group no significant differance was found in terms of foot onychomycosis prevalance, clinical shapes and factors. According to the result of this study psoriaisis served as a factor making the fungi infections of the nail easy. Moreover, it is determined that onychomycosis is an important problem in psoriatik nails and much emphasize should be given to it by both dermatologist and mycologists. It is also determined that the mycological methods would be useful in differential diagnosis.
