The effects of boron on NF-KB TNF-α and IL-6 gen expressions in pregnant rats liver

Abstract (EN)

Boron is present as constituent of several different compounds in nature. Besides its industrial use, boron is an essential element and plays a very important role in the physiology of plants. In this study, we aimed to determine the in vivo effects of boron on liver NF-kB, Tnf-α and IL-6 mRNA expression on pregnant rats. Rats were divided into 5 experimental groups containing 3 animals in each group. Experimental groups are as follows; negative control (fed with feed containing no boron), positive control (fed with ormal feed), normal boron group (fed with containing 2 µg boron/ml), marginal boron group (fed with feed containing 0,3 µg boron/ml) and low boron group (fed with feed containing 0,04 µg boron/ml). Female rats fed for two weeks and fed after mating with the male. After mating, on the 10th, 15th and 20th days of pregnancy, livers were collected from pregnant rats. The expression levels of liver NF-kB, Tnf-α and IL-6 mRNA were determined by using Real Time PCR. Results showed that the expression levels of liver NF-kB, Tnf-α and IL-6 mRNA decreased with an increase in boron concentrations in experimental groups, whereas the expression levels of liver NF-kB, Tnf-α and IL-6 mRNA increased in control negative group.
