Abstract (EN)
Beginning from 1950s, some novelists inclined to radical changes in novel. Certain French writers such as Alain Robbe-Grillet, Nathalie Sarraute, Claude Simon, Robert Pinget, Michel Butor, Claude Ollier and Jean Ricardou steered for an evident change concerning the conception of novel, though in different ways. The elements such as characters and intrigue, which were estimated to be indispensable before, began to shake to their foundations. The new-novelists kill the traditional novel character and substitute this latter with characters without neither name nor attributes. Throughout the descriptions, they focus on the description itself instead of the described object. They often write in a plain language, avoid social, psychological and political themes totally, and affirm that they have no purpose but writing a novel. One of the most important intentions of Nouveau Roman is to render the reader active. Throughout this study, our purpose is to point out the innovations used by new-novelists, the convergences and divergences of the Nouveau Roman with today?s roman. We tried to examine the techniques and objectives of the Nouveau Roman by analysing The Erasers by Alain Robbe-Grillet.
