The effect of regulation and regulatory institutions on the telecomunications sector in Turkey

In the 1980's, the intervention of the state to the economy gradually decreased due to the rapid development of globalization and technology in the world. In order to increase the competitiveness at the international level following the developments, it is in the position of regulating and supervising the state in order to provide the necessary infrastructure to produce the information and to create a competitive environment. The regulation, which is an instrument of competition policy, is the regulations and controls to ensure economic efficiency by eliminating market failures. Due to some industries such as energy, banking and communication where the goods and services within the scope of natural monopoly exist, the need for regulation practices has increased. State-owned regulation; They are regulated by the Regulatory and Supervisory Institutions, which have their own laws, have legal personality and operate independently. Nowadays, there are effective conditions in the electronic communication industry. There are radical changes in the sector due to technological developments. In Turkey, telecommunication sector creates infrastructure to other sectors and has a structure of natural monopoly. Due to these results privatization and liberalization can be wittnessed in this sector. The aim of this competition on the effectiveness of the government's regulatory and supervisory functions work from the perspective of Turkey's telecommunications sector.
