The investigation of the relationship between guidance and psychological counseling students with subjective-well being and attachment styles

In this study, the relationship between the subjective well-being and attachment styles of the students in the department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling was examined. This study is a study conducted through the relational survey method for finding causes of events or phenomenon. The universe of the study consists of the students studying at Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen University in 2016-2017 academic year. The sample of the study is composed of 209 students who are in the 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 4th grade in the Department of Guidance and Psychological Counseling, Ağrı İbrahim Chechen University. Subjective Well-Being Scale and Relationship Scales Questionnaire were used as data collection tools. In order to evaluate the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants such as gender, learning class, cumulative grade point average (CGPA), mother education status, father education status, monthly income, living place, growing environment, mother working status, father working status, Personal Information Form is used. In the analysis of the data, 6 different statistical analyzes were used and these analyzes were done with SPSS 22.00 statistical package program. In the findings of the study, some variables were in a significant relationship, but there was no significant relationship between some variables. The results of research indicate that subjective well being has a significant positive relation with secure attachment style; otherwise, it has a reverse relation with preoccupied attachment style and fearful attachment style. There is no significant relation between subjective well being and disorganized attachment style. No relation is found between subjective well being and class, gender, parent education status. There are significant relations with demographical factors and attachment styles. All findings were discussed and compared with the studies in the literature, and various suggestions were made.
