Relationship between physical activity levels and quality of life of recreational sports individuals

Abstract (EN)

Aim: The aim of this study was the investigation of the relationship between physical activity level and quality of life in individuals that doing sports for recreational purpose. Methods: The population of this study has consisted of 100 individuals, who reside in Istanbul, over 18 years old, 40 female and 60 male from different sports centers. The International Physical Activity Short Form was applied to assess the physical activity levels of the individuals that they applied themselves and Short-36 quality of life form was applied to assess the quality of life in last four weeks. Spss 22 software was used to analyze the obtained data. After the descriptive statistics (frequency, percentage, average, standard deviation), Mann-Whitney U, Kruskall-Wallis H and Spearman's Rho Correlation analyses were applied to obtained data. Significance levels were accepted as 0.05 and 0.01. Results: Met values of the individuals were found 770,04 MET/minutes/week. Quality of life scores were as follow; Pain: 74.18, General Health Perception: 64.85, Physical Function: 83.11, Average of Social Functionality: 77.25, Energy-Vitality: 63.10, Mental Health: 67.00. Total Mental Score was found 65.34, Total Physical Health Score was found 73.28 . Conculusion: As a result; As sports and physical activity increase, it can be said that there is a significant increase in the quality of life of individuals.
