Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationship between the demographic characteristics and leisure time satisfaction levels of adult individuals who prefer swimming as a recreational activity. In total 450 individual in the 18-50 age group who attended the Bingöl Semi-Olympic Swimming Pool in the summer season of 2019 participated in the study. As a data collection tool Leisure Time Satisfaction Scale (LTSS), which was developed by Beard and Ragheb (1980) and Karlı et al. (2008) adapted into Turkish, was used. The scale totally consists of 39 articles. In the process of obtaining data related to the study, face-to-face survey method was applied. In the analysis of the data, explanatory factor analysis was applied to determine the sub-dimensions related to the Leisure Time Satisfaction Scale by using the SPSS 25 package program. By applying normality analysis to the distribution of the data set in the study, the Independent t-test, which is the parametric tests, and the Anova tests used in multiple comparisons were used. The relationship between the leisure time satisfaction scale and the demographic characteristics of the participants was tested with the help of Pearson correlation analysis. In conclusion, when the Leisure Time Satisfaction Scale sub-dimensions were examined, while the highest sub-dimension was observed to be relaxed with an average of 4.212, the lowest sub-dimension was found to have an physiological sub-dimension with an average of 3.723. Besides, as the age, education level and economic levels of the participants increase, leisure time satisfaction levels increase as well. Key Words: Recreation, leisure time, sports, swimming.
