Prof. Abdullah ŞENGÜLABSTRACTIn this study, it is desired to show Reşat Ekrem Koçu, who is a good historian, as agood litteratuer at the same time. For this purpose, the writer?s historical novels and storiesare studied from different sides and his masterpieces having historical narration areintroduced.Reşat Ekrem Koçu tries to cause the Turkish readers to like history through literaryworks. Although the writer using novels in order to make history amusing and easy to readhas the artistic aspects of novel been of secondary importance, we can assume his works assuccessful. Trying to describe the social life of the period taking place in the novels is theappealing side of his novels.Reşat Ekrem Koçu often prefers interesting topics in his novels. To him, revealing thedetails of the life is very important. His most influentiel feature is to search the sources aboutOttoman History with a great attention, to find different kinds of interesting events, unusualstories, unbeliveable habits and details in life from those resources. At that point, as much ashis historiography, his skill in writing gains importance. He created many successfulmasterpieces with his attention and meticulousness in detecting extraordinary details buried inhistory books.According to the works we have examined, it is possible to say that as well as being agood historian, Reşat Ekrem Koçu is a good author with his fluent exposition and presentationof the details in the social life of the different periods of history.
