Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to analyse whether the pattern designs made before practicing a sculpture by the students of Art Painting Department and Sculpture Studio in the Departments of Education affect the level of success in the study of sculpture. It has been used experimental pattern with control group depending on pretest-posttest measurement in this study. The target population of the study is formed by 2009-2010 academic year, 3rd grade Art Painting Department and Sculpture Studio student works in the Department of Education, and the sampling is formed by the practices 22 students of 6th semester art painting department and sculpture studio who were picked randomly out of 3rd grade Art Painting Department and Sculpture Studio students in the Department of Art Painting, Gazi University 2009-2010 academic year. For the practicing of the study, two groups of 11 students of Art Painting Department and Sculpture Studio students have been picked randomly. In the pretest application study, the experimental and control groups has been asked to make a sculpture out of the model without making any changes. And the experimental group has been asked to research the model of sculpture which they will make before the last practice and it has not been made any changes in the experimental groups. The works of these chosen students have been evaluated by 3 adjudicators who are domain experts, determined by the researcher, according to the scales prepared by the researcher regarding the goal and the subgoals, and confirmed by the 3 adjudicators of domain experts. The survey data has been typology graphed through SPSS (Statistical Packages for the Social Sciences) and Ms Excel programs, and the data has been interpreted by the researcher. As a result of this study, it has been determined that the group that has been made pattern design before practicing a sculpture is much more successful than the control group that has not been made pattern design. While observing the positive success increase in the last test practicing of the experimental group compared to the pretest practicing, the success increase in the control group has not been found remarkable. It has been observed that pattern practicing made before sculpture study has a positive influence on the success levels in the sculpture studies of the students. In the consequence of the study, it has been proposed attaching enough importance to pattern designs and allocating some time in Art Painting Department and Sculpture Studio.Key words: Design and sculpture?
