Abstract (EN)

ADMINISTRATOR AND TEACHER VIEWS ON ACCOUNTABILITY IN PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECONDARY SCHOOLS: CASE OF BURSA The aim of this study was to investigate the administrator and teacher views on accountability in public and private secondary schools. In this study, the views of the teachers and administrators working in public and private secondary schools in the central districts of Bursa in the 2018-2019 academic year on accountability and the the difference between administrators and teachers' expectations for accountability and practices were examined. Some variables (position, institution type, seniority, education level) related to expectations and practices for accountability were investigated. Descriptive method was used in this study. In the study, a total of 25 secondary schools, including 4 private secondary schools and one public secondary school from each educational district in three central districts, were chosen randomly with a stratified sample. A total of 407 people from these schools participated in the study. 367 of the participants are teachers and 40 of them are administrators. The data in the study were collected with accountability scale. In order to analyze the data, statistical techniques such as percentage, mean, standard deviation, Welch test, t-Test, Kruskal Wallis H Test and Correlation Matrix were applied. The data were analyzed in the SPSS 22.00 program. According to the findings of the research, accountability differs in terms of both adoption and implementation according to the gender, duties, school types and seniority of the participants. In-service training does not cause any change. As the participants' adoption of accountability increases, their belief in the practices related to accountability also increases.
