Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACTCorrelations of IL-8, IL-10 and Procalcitonin Levels in Tracheal Aspiration Fluidin Premature Infants with Respiratory Disstress Syndrome with Disease Severityand Development of Chronic Lung DiseaseIL-8, IL-10 and procalcitonin levels in tracheal aspiration fluid and the severityof RDS and development of chronic lung disease is compared in this study. The study population consisted of 60 preterm infants with RDS, and 9 of themprogressed to chronic lung disease. All babies gestational ages was under 32 weeks andbirth weight was under 1500 g. Tracheal aspiration fluids taken in 1, 3, 5, 7, 14, 21, 28.days of life during mechanical ventilation.IL-8 levels was highest in the 5. day, and in the 14. day there was a secondpeak. In the 14. day there was significant difference between patients with chroniclung disease and without chronic lung disease (p<0.05). IL-8 levels and RDS severity(OI and A-aDO2 ) also correlated significantly.IL-10 levels was highest in the 7. day. In the 14. day there was significantdifference between patients with chronic lung disease and without chronic lungdisease. In addition there was a significant negative correlation between OI and IL-10levels. However there was an in significant negative correlation between IL-10 levelsand A-aDO2.Procalcitonin levels was highest in the 5. day. But there was no differencebetween patients with chronic lung disease and without chronic lung disease.Procalcitonin levels and RDS severity (OI and A-aDO2 ) correlated significantly. We conclude that IL-8, IL-10 and procalcitonin levels can be useful markers ofseverity of RDS and prediction of chronic lung disease development.Key words : IL-8, IL-10, procalcitonin, RDS, tracheal aspiration8
