Abstract (EN)

In this research, a beta type Stirling engine having rhombic drive mechanism was designed, manufactured and tested. Rhombic drive mechanism was used to reduce engine dimensions and efficiency loss caused by friction and mechanical losses. Kinematic relations were described for the calculation of volume variations. Engine performance parameters were determined by using a nodal analysis method for different convective heat transfer coefficients. The tests were carried out at 500±5 ºC, 600±5 ºC and 700±5 ºC hot end temperatures and 1, 2, 3 and 4 bar charge pressures. The heat was supplied by a LPG burner. According to the experimental conclusions, maximum output power was obtained 244 W at 466 rpm for 700±5 ºC hot end temperature and 3 bar charge pressure. Maximum torque was obtained 5,73 Nm at 273 rpm for 700±5 ºC hot end temperature and 3 bar charge pressure.
