Analysis of the Russian and Turkish newspaper headlines in the framework of cultural linguistics

This study represents the first example of the analysis in the framework of cultural linguistics made in a contrastive way between Russian and Turkish on the example of a headline. The subject of the study was defined as an analysis of the Russian and Turkish newspaper headlines in the framework of cultural linguistics. In accordance with the subject such tasks as defining of the language and cultural transformations in the Russian and Turkish newspaper headlines, categorisation of the defined language and cultural transformations, defining of the similarities and differences between language and cultural transformations in the Russian and Turkish newspaper headlines, comparing the dynamics in the Russian and Turkish language and culture on the basis of the received data were defined.The framework of this study was limited to the analysis of the Russian and Turkish newspaper headlines. Headlines from the national newspapers published in Russia and Turkey between January, 2010 and January, 2011 and aimed at the different social groups were selected as samples. The approach of the cultural linguistics and notions and terms developed in this approach formed the theoretical framework of the study.It was concluded that a newspaper headline can be a subject of the analysis in the framework of the cultural linguistics; language and cultural transformations, which can be classified according to the different models and which need an intelligent reader, take place in the newspaper headline; there are both similarities and differences between language and cultural transformations in the Russian and Turkish newspaper headlines; the processes in the language and culture of the two societies can be followed on the basis of the language and cultural transformations in the Russian and Turkish newspaper headlines; the data of the analysis in the framework of the cultural linguistics can be used in the process of the foreign language education.Key Words:1.
