Abstract (EN)
Healthcare workers working in health institutions; are working under stress due to the necessity of fast and accurate diagnosis and treatment of the patient, intense work schedule, having overtime hours and being exposed to violence from patients and their relatives. Therefore, they lose their professional excitement and job satisfaction over time. The results of job dissatisfaction that may arise in the health sector, are not only limited to the institution, but also can have important social consequences. Job dissatisfaction of employees when viewed on a micro scale may cause some results such as absenteeism, desire to leave the job, indifference to work. Moreover, from a macro point of view, it may cause consequences such as disruption of health services and making important mistakes that would affect human life. Mindfulness, can be described as a process of accepting negativities and performing mindful work. This situation can play an important role in the improvement and development of the holistic health of the society, turning it from theory into practice. In this context, it is aimed to examine the effect of mindfulness on the job satisfaction of healthcare professionals working in an area that concerns a significant part of the society, such as the health sector. During the Covid-19 pandemic, a survey was conducted with 340 healthcare professionals at the university hospital operating in two different locations in Istanbul. In line with the purpose of the study, in the conceptual part of the thesis a literature search was conducted on the concepts of health workers, mindfulness and job satisfaction. Difference analyzes were performed between the sub-dimensions of mindfulness and job satisfaction and sociodemographic variables. The relationship between job description sub-dimensions and mindfulness sub-dimensions was examined by multiple regression analysis.The results of the study showed that there is a significant relationship between behavioral awareness and mindfulness in attention and organizational job satisfaction in healthcare workers. Accordingly, the hypothesis of the study were partially accepted. It is thought that the level of conscious awareness of health workers and in this context, the high level of job satisfaction is signficant for patient safety and sustainability of health institutions.
