Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to understand the degree of the relationship between workaholism and burnout in healthcare professionals working in Istanbul and to measure the effect of occupational satisfaction on this relationship. For this purpose, DUWAS-TR, which was developed by Schaufeli, Taris and Bakker (2006) and adapted into Turkish by Doğan and Tel (2011), which consists of 2 dimensions and 14 items, was used as a data collection tool to measure the level of workaholism. Maslach Burnout Inventory developed by Maslach and Jackson (1981) and adapted into Turkish by Ergin (1992) was used to determine the burnout level. The Minnesota Job Satisfaction Scale developed by Weiss et al. (1967) and adapted into Turkish by Oran (1989), was used in order to measure the level of occupational satisfaction. The questionnaires were conducted with a total of 407 health workers who participated voluntarily. The collected data were evaluated with SPSS 20.0 package programme. The validity and reliability analyses of the 3 scales within the scope of the research were performed by explanatory factor analysis. Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) sampling adequacy test and Barlett Sphericity test were performed to analyse the data set. The relationships between demographic variables and workaholism, burnout and occupational satisfaction were analysed by t test, ANOVA and Post. Hoc. Tukey test. As a result of the research, it was seen that there were positive and significant relationships between workaholism and burnout and between workaholism and professional satisfaction and negative and significant relationships between professional satisfaction and burnout. As a result of regression analyses, mediating effect of professional satisfaction on the effect of workaholism on burnout was found.
