Abstract (EN)
Background and Aim: Health workers, who contribute to individual and community health through the provision of health services, are important human resources of both health institutions and a country. Therefore, it is important to determine the factors affecting job satisfaction and life satisfaction for health workers. This study aimed to determine the causal relationships between the variables of psychological resilience, styles of coping with stress, job satisfaction and life satisfaction in healthcare professionals and to determine whether there are differences in the relevant variables according to socio-demographic characteristics. Material and Methods: The study population consists of healthcare professionals working at universities, public and private hospitals in Edirne city center and includes a total of 2872 people. Stratified sampling method was applied based on the number of personnel of the institution and their occupational distribution. Research data was collected through a survey form. The survey form consists of questions about socio-demographic characteristics and psychological resilience, styles of coping with stress, job satisfaction and life satisfaction scales. Styles of coping with stress; It consists of 5 sub-dimensions: self-confident approach, optimistic approach, applying for social support, submissive approach and helpless approach. Other scales are one-dimensional. The survey application started in June 2022 and ended in December 2022. Results: According to the results obtained in the study, the psychological resilience, self-confident approach, optimistic approach, job satisfaction and life satisfaction levels of participants between the ages of 41-50 are higher than those between the ages of 26-30 (p<0.05). Men's psychological resilience level is higher, and women's level of seeking social support and life satisfaction is higher (p<0.05). While physicians' self-confident approach, optimistic approach and job satisfaction levels are lower than nurses and others, their submissive and helpless approach levels are higher (p<0.05). Those whose total working time in the sector is between 31-40 years have the highest levels of psychological resilience, self-confident approach, optimistic approach and job satisfaction. University hospital employees' psychological resilience and self-confident approach levels are lower than public and private hospital employees, and their optimistic approach, job satisfaction and life satisfaction levels are lower than public hospital employees (p<0.05). The job satisfaction level of employees in other units is lower than those working in emergency, intensive care, service and outpatient clinics (p <0.05). Psychological resilience, self-confident approach, and optimistic approach positively affect life satisfaction (p<0.05); Submissive approach and helpless approach have a negative effect (p<0.05). Self-confident approach, optimistic approach, and seeking social support have a positive effect on job satisfaction (p<0.05), while a submissive approach has a negative effect (p<0.05). Optimistic approach and submissive approach partially mediate the relationship between psychological resilience and life satisfaction (p<0.05). Self-confident approach, optimistic approach and submissive approach fully mediate the relationship between psychological resilience and job satisfaction (p<0.05). Conclusion: High levels of psychological resilience and the use of problem-focused coping styles in healthcare professionals are factors that positively affect job satisfaction and life satisfaction. Necessary measures should be taken to develop psychological resilience and effective coping skills with stress.
