Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is toshow risk assessment approac hand devices can be designed as a strategic management device for the hospitals having high-risk processes. FMEA is the best device to make risk management scientific and render preventive approach effective since, as mentioned before, the patient and his/her relatives should be treated without any mistakes or harm. The study consists of four stages: the definition and history of Health Services, high-risk processes of Health, Health Services in Turkey and the recentsituation and the methods used to decrease the risk in Health Services.The strategic method, vision, mission, aim, strategic quality management, the importance of the use of strategic management in Health and its reasons, how FMEA should be used in Health as strategic management device are mentioned in the second stage.In the third stage, the definition, history of FMEA, sectors using FMEA, distinction of FMEA from other risk managements, contributions of FMEA to health services and its use as a strategic decision-making model in the decision-making process of the management are treated. In addition, eight steps of FMEA are evaluated in theliterature.In the final stage, FMEA steps (selection of a high-risk process and gathering of the team, preparing the process flowchart, employing brain-storming technique for potential effective failure modes, prioritizing failure modes, determining the root causes of effective failure modes, re-designing the process, testing and analyzing the process, and implementation and monitoring the newprocess) are assessed step by step within the hospital implementation. In the conclusion, various suggestions have been made subsequentto a general evaluation.
