Abstract (EN)
ABSTRACTThe changes in the healthcare sector, increased the improtance of designing patient centered, humanistic and healing spaces. Due to this aim, considering the physical properties, physiological and psychological effects of colour, funtional, estetical and symbolic usage in space is effective in the design of healing environments. For this reason, within the thesis, colour in healthcare buildings is studied and effective colour usage is searched within the examples of patient rooms from different private branch hospitals.In the first chapter, a general introduction is made in colour in architecture subject, the problem is defined, the aim and the method of the study is specified.In the second chapter, basic knowledge of colour is given. Colour fact is taken up together with the titles of human colour perception system, colour concept and colour in space perception. The physical properties of colour, the analysis of colour and the colour harmony subjects are summarized as basic colour concepts.In the third chapter, colour in healthcare is examined. The physiological and psychological effects of colour on people and its? usage in treatment is searched.In the fourth chapter, colour in healthcare buildings is examined. The necessary definitions related to healthcare buildings are described, design guidelines depend upon the user needs and colour design guidelines in healthcare environments are collected. The effective usage of colour in healthcare buildings is brought out with building site, exterior space and interior space examples from different hospitals.In the fifth chapter, colour in healthcare buildings is evaluated in the examples of private branch hospitals patient rooms. Colour usages in patient rooms are compared.In the conclusion part of the research, some specific titles are suggested to be considered, to evaluate the effective usage of colour in healthcare buildings.Keywords: Colour, perception, healthcare buildings, patient room, healing environments, user needs, design guidelines.
