Evaluation of occupational health and safety level of health school students

The study was carried out at Kırklareli University School of Health in 2017-2018 Academic Year; Midwifery 1st and 4th grade, and Nursing 1st and 4th grades; The aim of the study was to evaluate the knowledge level of 244 students on Occupational Health and Safety. A significant difference was found between all 1st and 4th grade students (p = 0.001) and between 1st and 4th grade nursing students (p = 0,001) in terms of knowledge about Occupational Health and Safety. In the knowledge level of the awareness of Occupational Health and Safety symbols, the difference between all Grade 1 and Grade 4 students in terms of knowing the right fall risk symbol was significant (p = 0,012). When disposing of the injector into the cutter-tool box without closing the end of the needle tip; The difference between 1st and 4th Grades was found to be significant (p=0,000) and the difference between the two groups was found to be significant when evaluating the notification of the cutting-tool injury to the competent unit (p=0,046). 34.8% of 1st grade students were exposed to verbal or physical violence; This rate was 65.2% for 4th grade students and the difference was statistically significant (p = 0.001). Kırklareli University School of Health Nursing and Midwifery departments 1st and 4th grade students had previously received information about Occupational Health and Safety; They want to take Occupational Health and Safety as a lesson from 1st grade, classes that are exposed to cutting and penetrating injuries do not report this situation to the related units, but Classes 4 reported; they believe that the Hepatitis B vaccine is protective and most of them had Hepatitis B vaccine and Hepatitis B blood test, water and soap were used mostly in hand hygiene. It will be appropriate to give occupational health and safety information to the students before the practical courses and internships begin.
