Abstract (EN)
After the Marmara earthquake frequently have been maked up mistake is disaster means only earthquake. Disaster is most important subject matter but flooding, fire, motor-vehicle accident which ever day average 20 persons have died, and terrorist attack also fall within disasters and disasters medicine. Disasters remain an important concern due to the fact that most of the disasters cannot be prevented and, as a result of cause thousands of mortality and morbility. Firstly, prevention methods should be sought and for those disasters that cannot be prevented, after-disaster management capabilities of hospitals should be increased to sufficient levels.Confusion and chaos are commonly experienced by the Hospital at the onset of a medical disaster. However, these negative effects can be minimized if management responds quickly with focused and organized direction of activities.The aim of this study?during a disaster- is to be succesful and organised about the diagnosis and therapy of the patients and injured individuals sent to hospital, to prevent panic and confusion in hospital due to disaster, to minimize the possible problems, to determine the role of every unit and its duty and to evaluate a good organisation between these units. To this end, it has been suggested and the most useble a plan in the world which success and effectiveness were proved at disaster settings, a disaster response system; it?s orginal name is Hospital Incident Command System which was created in the late 1980s in California. It means Hastane Afet Yönetim Sistemi in Turkish was adopted our hospital.HICS is an emergency manegement system which employs a logical management structure, defined responsibilities, clear reporting channels, and a common nomenclature to help unify hospitals with other emergency responders. There are clear advantages to all hospitals using this particular emergency management system.As a result the goal of this thesis is to serve Gaziantep University School of Medicine Faculty Hospital a hospital disaster plan that matches the international standards. For that matter, this thesis had been discussed the methods that hospitals can follow to cope with disasters, their importance, and results.Keywords: Disaster, Disaster management, Hospital disaster plan
