Examination of Samed Behrengi's works in terms of values education and the quality of language

The aim of this study is to examine the works of Samed Behrengi, who gave writings on children's literature, in terms of values education and language richness. Its goal reveals the extent to which the works used can be benefited while contributing to their education & training. The study materials of this research consisting 9 books of children's literature are written by Samed Behrengi. Contents of works for this descriptive research were analyzed by document analysis method. The data obtained from this study based on "Değer Ölçeği" invented by Schwartz and dictionaries of the "Türk Dil Kurumu (Turkish Language Association)". As a result of this study, it was determined that the most used value areas in his works were self-direction, benevolence and success. Sub-values were determined as respectively; being curious, smart, able to choose their own goals, true brotherhood and being brave. It has been determined the most unused value areas are hedonism, universalism and harmony; on the otherhand their sub-values are independence, respect for privacy, open-mindedness and protecting the environment. In his works, the sub-values called national security, wanting global and inner peace never been observed. It has been established that, the most frequently used vocabulary elements in his literature are respectively; idioms, reduplications, formulaic words and proverbs. Based on the results of the research, recomendations were given to researchers and instructors.
