Environment /ecology based art education

The issue of environment/ecology is a problem that has come to the fore with issues such as global warming, climate change and natural disasters. The destruction caused by humans in nature, the deadly interventions in nature have increased the interest in environmental/ecology education. Transforming socio-cultural structure and changing educational paradigms reveal the necessity of a contemporary education. This situation, which directs education in a global sense, is also important for art education. Especially since the first half of the twentieth century, this situation has manifested itself through various movements and artists in art. In this study, it is aimed to draw a general framework of environment/ecology education through art, based on the environment/ecology problem, which is a current problem today. Within the scope of the study, the opinions of academicians who have done research in this field were taken as basis, as well as the relevant literature review. In addition, the documents were analyzed by examining the visual arts program in the context of the subject. As a result of the literature review, the program outcomes examined and the opinions of the academicians, it was concluded that environmental/ecology education through art should be included in the curriculum, updating the programs, increasing the gains, working to raise awareness and support on this issue, supporting the projects in this field and restructuring the educational environments.
