The impact of education on employment in industrial sector: Gazi̇antep city

The industrial sector is of great significance in both developed and developing countries. Industrially advanced countries need qualified manpower equipped with knowledge and skills. Education is the most important concept to provide these qualifications. Those who go through a required training may take the opportunity to improve their existing abilities and qualities and thus they may attain the qualifications.Today the developing countries are trying to realize the needed economical and social development indicators. It could be said that employment is the foremost indicator, especially, the one related with education tightly is significant for peace and welfare level of the society. For this purpose, the impact of education, particularly in industry sector was investigated. Accordingly, in order to determine the influence of education on employment, the reports, journals, essays, magazines and operating reports of the institutions such as; Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK), Turkish Employment Organization (İŞKUR), Gaziantep Chamber of Industry (GSO) and Gaziantep Organized Industrial Zones (GAOSB) were utilized. By using the data obtained, tables were created and interpreted. In fourth part of this study, Turkey's education system, educational and work force situation were analyzed. In the fifth part, a survey was conducted with 100 textile companies operating in Gaziantep City Industrial sector. In the survey, labour educational status were determined according to their positions. As a result of that, tables were created and it was aimed to evaluate the impact of education on employment.
