Abstract (EN)

Ketosis is one of the significanthealth problems in high productivity dairy farms. The main ketone body in blood is Beta Hydroxy Buturic Acid (BHBA). Blood BHBA levels reflect the degree of negative energy balance (NEB) and lipid mobilisation in dairy animals, therefore they are diagnostic markers for subclinical ketosis (SKK) and clinical ketosis (KK). In this study, it was aimed to determine the prevalence of SKK in awassibreed sheep in Şanlıurfa region. The animal material was selected from 122 ivesi breed sheep according to flock sampling method from 7 different farms in Şanlıurfa province. After clinical examinations and body condition scoring were performed and recorded, the disease was diagnosed by measuring BHBA. The BHBA values of the samples taken between 0.5 mmol/L and 1.6 mmol/L were accepted as SKK, those between 1.6 mmol/L and 7 mmol/L were accepted as KK, and those <0.5 mmol/L were accepted as healthy. As a result of the examination and analyses, 82.8% prevalence of subclinical ketosis was determined. As a result, in this study, the prevalence of subclinical ketosis in sheep in Şanlıurfa was significantly higher than in other studies, and it is thought that the presence of subclinical ketosis disease and the risk of developing this disease can be determined by early diagnosis through field tests, and thus death, lamb lossand economic costs can be prevented
