Abstract (EN)

Friedrich Schleiermacher, who is known as the father of the modern theology is one of the most distinguished philosophers of 19th century. In this study, the primary objective of this dissertation project is to analyze Schleiermacher?s philosophy of religion. In this context, firstly theology-philosophy relation is examined and information is given about Schleiermacher?s theology. In later sections, a detailed information is given about his life and works and answers are looked for what base dynamics that formed his philosophy religion. In the third chapter of our study, we handled Schleiermacher's conception of God within terms of feeling of absolute dependenceWhat has been understood is that Schleiermacher built an eclectic system by developing a collective and critical attitude against the philosophy proceeding himself and approaches which were affected from not only romanticism but also Enlightenment philosophy in his time.It is tried to introduce individual contribution of Schleiermacher to philosophy of religion by benefiting from his own Works and terms that he used. In this context, a firm introduction is aimed towards religious understanding depending on ?absolute dependence feeling?
