Abstract (EN)

Fresh water resources are decreasing due to climate change, urbanization, environmental pollution in addition to increasing population and energy costs. The apparent and real losses should be determined in order to minimize the current water loss-leakage rates in the networks The most technical method used to determine these losses is to form isolated sub-regions (DMA). The purpose of the thesis is to determine and minimize the loss-leakage situation by forming an isolated sub-area (DMA) in Selçuklu/Konya network having the longest pipe line where the pressure and loss-leakage rate is high. Flow meter, pressure sensor and data collector measurement devices were installed at the DMA water inlet point. Infrastructure Leakage Index (ILI), Minimum Night Flow (MNF) index, International Water Association (IWA) index were calculated with the field measurements. Water loss-leakage detection devices such as acoustic listening microphones, underground imaging devices and noise recorders were used to detect the locations of physical breakdown in streets having high loss and leakage rates after analyzing these indices. Water loss-leakage rates were recalculated to determine whether there were improvements in the DMA forming with Database Monitoring and Control System (SCADA) following realized necessary repairing. The prevented water loss per second was found to be 19 liters. The institution's gain was calculated as 7.5 million TL with the cost analysis. Hydraulic analysis of the network was performed with EPANET hydraulic modeling program.
