Abstract (EN)
Festivals are among the activities rooted in Turkish culture in terms of their history. It is known that festivals and festivities have an important place in Turkish culture and they differ from region to region while being celebrated. When we look at the festivals and festivities that have been celebrated from the past to the present, it is seen that these celebrations have the function of entertaining people, bring people closer to each other, the concept of togetherness has a positive effect on people, and everyone from small to large has a good time in these celebrations. The subject of this study is the "Sele Sepet Top Kandil Şenliği", which is celebrated in the evening that connects the fourteenth evening of the month of Ramadan to the fifteenth day in the Bafra district of Samsun. "Sele Sepet Top Kandil Şenliği", which took place in the district on the fourteenth evening of Ramadan, took place with the participation of the children in their own neighborhoods, accompanied by mani in their own neighborhoods, with paper lanterns with burning candles in their hands, knocking on the doors of their neighbors and giving the children treats to the children at the door they knocked it is a festivity. In the study, the folklore analysis of the "Sele Sepet Top Kandil Şenliği" was carried out within the framework of the history of the celebration of the "Sele Sepet top Kandil Şenliği", the structure of this festival and the folklore elements that the festival contains. Although it is not known exactly how long it has been celebrated, this festival has continued to be celebrated in the district from past to present, even during the restrictions during the pandemic period, and strengthened the solidarity and unity between people. A compilation study was made in Bafra and the data obtained from the source persons were analyzed. With this study, it is aimed to record the place of "Sele Sepet Top Kandil Şenliği" in intergenerational cultural transfer and many elements that this festival contains in terms of folklore.
