Abstract (EN)
This study investigated the usability of cellulose-based hemp fiber as a raw material in carbon fiber production. Cellulose's economic value, ease of availability, environmental friendliness, and processability make it an extremely important component of carbon fiber production. Cellulose-based hemp fiber was first impregnated with a chemical process and then subjected to heat treatment (stabilization/oxidation) in air. A mixture of 4% phosphoric acid and 4% boric acid was used as the impregnating chemicals. After chemical treatment, the effects of holding times of 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 minutes at 250 °C in air were investigated. The purpose of the stabilization process was to make the samples resistant to the higher carbonization temperatures that would be applied later. Changes in structure and properties were analyzed after stabilization. These tests included fiber thickness, yarn count, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis (DSC and TGA), strength, SEM, LOI conversion, and IR spectroscopy. Keywords: Carbon fiber, hemp, cellulose, stabilization, thermal analysis, FT-IR, XRD
