ABSTRACTCUKUROVA AREA IN B.C. III UNDER THE LIGHT OF CERAMIC FOUNDINGSZeynep YILMAZMaster of Art Thesis , Department of ArchaeologyAdvisor: Asist. Prof. Dr. K. Serdar GİRGİNERApril 2008, 136 pagesIn EBA I period, Cilicia Area was more related to North Syria- Mesopotamia and Inner Anatolia region rather than West Anatolia. It was determined that there has not been any more than some similar samples with West Anatolia.In EBA II period, it was understood that Cilicia was related to Inner Anatolia, east of Amonos Mountains, Amuk, Fırat, North Syria, Mesopotamia, Levant, Cyprus and Cretan. Also, importance of the area was increased and Tarsus became a center for commerce. During this period both marine and land trade took place and as a result of increasing pace in trade the region get familiarized and related with West Anatolia.During EBA III period, there has been many changes in Çukurova Region in cultural ways. There has not only been foundings of ceramic pots such as cup, plate made by mill, depas, tankard, cup with two handles and canteen that was like West Anatolia way but also architectural designs similar to West Anatolia such as megaron was came on the scenes. In this period, there was less relations with Inner Anatolia and North Syria and towards the end of the period from a local dough a new pot shape was created that was a mix of West Anatolia and North Syria pot shapes.Key Words: Çukurova, EBA, Ceramic.
